Everyone is talking about making your home ‘hygge’ this winter. It’s the latest trend – you’ve probably been doing it without realising.
Copper accessories, statement walls and French inspired furniture are being overturned for this season’s biggest trend – which is a little harder to explain.
According to interior gurus we all need to make our homes “hygge” – a Danish word, pronounced Hue-gah. It basically means “living well” and “feeling cosy”. Experts say it’s more of a feeling than something you can describe, resulting in cosy moments when you’re truly enjoying life. The Danes are lovers of calm and often top polls as the happiest people on earth. `So this winter we need to de-clutter our spaces, making room for warm, soft, cosy textures and a calming vibe.
With this in mind I headed to Dunelm to embrace the en-vouge Danish concept and find some hygge style for my home. A brand new store has just opened in the centre of Solihull and I was delighted to be one of their first visitors.
Last year in London I attended Dunelm’s Christmas in July event – it was a truly spectacular winter wonderland, full of fantastic interior ideas. I’ve been a fan ever since. I instantly noticed their products were stylish and on-trend, but came with a very reasonable price tag. A win-win in my book!
Their luxury brand Dorma radiates elegance and style – you’ll want to buy all of it (seriously, you will). It’s even by appointment of The Queen and decks out the bedrooms of Windsor Castle. Who wouldn’t want to share the same bed linen as Her Majesty 🙂
So what does the new Solihull store have to offer?
Relaxing and cosy living spaces:
Stylish and calming accessories:
A fabulous, luxe range of Dorma including:
Stylish soft furnishings:
Classic home accessories:
Deluxe dining wear:
They also have a huge collection of silk flowers. In the past I’ve shied away from artificial flowers, however, Dunelm’s range is impressive and some are very delicate and pretty. They have flowers and foliage for all seasons – perfect to create a dramatic look.
The Solihull store was in full Christmas mode, decked out with festive spirit, Yuletide gifts and masses of Christmas sparkle. They have everything from twinkling reindeers to ginormous Christmas crackers and their luxury, wicker hampers are a steal at just £25!
Create a winter wonderland:
Fill your stockings with these fun, giant crackers (just £5) :
Eat, drink and be merry:
Finally, quick shout out to all the mums (and dads). Seeing as I went to the opening with my baby boy I can confirm there’s a very nice baby change upstairs on the first floor! We need to share and know these things, hey mums? 🙂
Thanks for inviting me down to the opening Dunelm, I’m now armed with interior ideas and desperate to come back and buy a huge Christmas cracker and a hamper. I wish I’d brought one at the time!
Have you been into the new Solihull store yet? Where do you shop for your home interior ideas?
