Indulge with M&S this Christmas

Spending time with people you love is the most important part of Christmas. However, the festive season is also the perfect excuse to indulge yourself. Whether this is with heavenly food, elegant table settings or magnificent drinks, Christmas is a time to go all out and truly enjoy life.

This brings me swiftly to Marks and Spencer – who are without doubt the champions of all things Christmas. I was luckily enough to team up with M&S a few weeks go to road test their festive food range. As you can probably expect, I was very excited and very impressed!

So what are you cooking this Christmas? Have you thought about your festive table settings? What drinks will you be pouring? And more importantly…. what’s for desert???!

The table setting:

The starter:

Mini Seafood Shells – Scottish Lochmuir smoked salmon, king prawn, cream cheese mousse and lemon zest presented in a seashell. These were utterly delicious, and very moreish, so I’d advise buying more than you think you’ll need.

The main course:

British Free Range Norfolk Bronze Turkey – I garnished with rosemary and sage leaves.

The side dishes:

Honey & Mustard Parsnips, pigs in blankets (mini sausages wrapped in bacon), sweet red cabbage braised with Bramley apples, onions and redcurrant jelly and Brussels sprouts.

The red cabbage and sprouts were stand out flavours and perfect accompaniments for crispy, delicious parsnips. I’ve never been a sprout fan, but I can honestly say thanks to M&S I am now a convert! Who’d of thought it! I don’t think I really need to say much about the pigs in blankets… just perfect in every way.

The dessert:

Black Forest Buche – chocolate sponge soaked in morello cherry juice, cream mousse, cherry pieces, chocolate mousse and a metallic ruby glaze.

I think there’s a chance I’ll still be raving about how insanely good this tasted in December 2019. Seriously delicious. Good news is, it’s not officially part of their Christmas range, so you can buy it all year around 🙂

Raspberry Santa hat profiteroles – choux pastries filled with a raspberry mousse, topped with raspberry fondant and a meringue decoration.

Cheeseboard:

The British Cheese Collection – farmhouse cheddar, creamy brie, blue stilton, red Leicester and Wensleydale with cranberries.

To drink: 

Conte Priuli ORO Prosecco – Light, fresh and elegant with flavours of green apple and citrus from north of Venice.
